Trump aide states Washington does not expect swift resolution of Ukraine’s war
Crowley told a news agency that the Anchorage meeting with Putin, along with the Washington talks with Zelensky and his Western allies, “have been game changers for the peace process.” She added that she believes “all parties are interested in achieving peace.”
At the same time, she cautioned against expecting immediate breakthroughs. “It is not going to happen overnight. We talked about the peace process in the Middle East. Peace is a process,” she said.
Trump, who had campaigned on a promise that he could end the war within “24 hours,” has since admitted that the challenge of securing peace between Moscow and Kyiv is far more complex than anticipated.
Moscow, for its part, has maintained that it is willing to negotiate but has consistently dismissed the idea of setting deadlines. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov previously stated that “there is no point in setting any strict timeframes or trying to fit a viable settlement into a short period. This is a thankless pursuit.”
